Welcome to our web site, we hope you find it helpful and informative. Becton School is part of the Becton Centre for Children and Young People situated at Crystal Peaks in Sheffield. It is a sub-regional resource offering specialist care for those young people needing Tier 4, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services
The school offers education for children and teenagers who are patients in the Becton Unit who are experiencing short-term emotional and behavioural difficulties. A range of therapeutic interventions from the multi disciplinary team is made available to the child, young person and family as part of their treatment plan.
Becton School was, until September 2010, known as Oakwood and Shirle Hill School/Service and was based at the Northern General Hospital and Nether Edge.
It has been an exciting few months with lots of hard work coming together to launch the new school and units at the refurbished Beighton Community Hospital. The facilities which have been provided support the developing Mental Health Services for children and young people from 5- 18 years of age.
We hope that patients and families will find the new environment a warm and welcoming place.
